More testing and with high ISO as well…

Germany 0 – Spain 1
Euro 2008 finishes with an unexpected winner. Q was right, its always not who people thought it’d be. I was sure Germany’d win! Oh well, I didn’t follow Euro after Italy got booted out. Disappointed! But congratulations are in order for THE winner, Spain. Really unexpected and they’re really doubly celebrating the fact that the last time they got it was 44 years ago!
BDAC Walkathon
Woke up at 6am to go for the walkaton @ Stadium. The turnout was really really low this year, probably due to very little publicity being done. I was expecting loads of people, taking last year’s hugely successful turnout into account, as retold by some photogs who went for last year’s. The good thing was the support from BFF members coming to the event, hopefully we all learn a lot with every outing, and meet more new photogs!
After that went to JC for breakfast and lepak with the new faces in BFF.. Cuba try testing lenses, the usual lalalaaa…
I didn’t want to go home yet (and do what, sleep?? and waste my sunday??) so went to BE lepaks for a while to cool off in the aircon and doing my online routine (have I said I can’t live without the internet?) XD until lunchtime and went back to aptmt to try and sleep, as I was planning a BE session for phoenixlancer’s bday. Turned out had a good time hanging out with Simi and Seph and PL of cos over the yummeh-iest coffee cheesecake evar!
Watched The Accidental Husband and The Other Boleyn Girl .. as sleeping proved impossible. Hm. Then rushed to get cake for PL and luckily I was their last customer mwahaha.
Blue Eden
Texted BFF members whose contacts I have, to come to BE by 7.30, and to PL at 8pm and then lepaked while gaming on Maple. Hehe! The cue was when I stood to go inside and the boys were to get ready their cameras. Waheyy it went well but two of the candles got blown off by the aircon, hehe. Cake was delicious and it was ALSO coffee flavoured cheesecake! It was fate I tell you.

Caught a movie after that. Which movie? You’ve gotta ask yourself this… “What the fuck have you done lately??”. Haha yes, its the WANTED movie, starring James Mc Avoy. With Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman amongst the cast. I rate this movie 20/10! I was advised not to think about it (storyline) and just enjoyed the action, so I proceeded to do just that, but in the end, I thought about it, and altough it IS farfetched, it is what entertaiment is supposed to do. I was happily and awesomely entertained with this movie. WATCH IT NOW!
So Happy Birthday again PL and hope you had a good time on your day!
Update on Guam:
The paper reported on the Guam vs Brunei game yesterday afternoon. Was it 6pm here when it was 4pm there? *confused* Unfortunately Guam was too strong for Brunei as they scored 74 – 0 against Brunei. I’ll still bet Guam dudes will be sore after receiving tackles from our boys.
There will be another game on 2 July, Brunei vs Philippines. Come on boys!!
Monday Bloos

At Blue Eden
Monday Blues! I wanted more hours on Sunday to do all my pending stuff. But I got too sleepy to finish .. I think I need some vitamins or irons, I get tired easily, humphhh or its just that I don’t do any regular exercise! >=(
I did upload some pics for the Yachties vs Knights (3rd/4th) game on my album. Will upload some more later!
Bandar Jalan Jalan

Kolo Lau Xu Fen @ Mekong Restaurant
The sunset today was glorious golden, phoenixlancer pointed out the golden glow behind me as we were watching some dvd. Grabbed cameras and started shooting from the back verandah. But mine was “eeehhhh…”. Out of a whim, I wondered out loud how would the mosque look like, silhouetted against that lovely golden glow and phoenix went “Ahh what the hell, let’s go.”
The SMART boy didn’t want to take the car ..problem parking etc, so we walked. T__T By the time we arrived it was gone, so we took pics of the mosque anyway. Unfortunately the dome is still under renovation, so pics were.. “eeeghhh”. Took some pics of the monument in town too while at it, and then had light dinner @ Mekong restaurant. My fav dish! The Lau Xu Fen
My girls in Miri started this love.. hehehe!
Photos:

Fav shot.. Una. Love this, but the bg is overexposed T__T
My willing model for playing with the 50mm. I love the bokeh!! (ps: His new trousers are made of awesome too!!)
Random shots..
Later on, went to a friend’s bday gathering in Aladdin, Jerudong Park. On the way there, talked with PL about new movies and how I haven’t watched “Vantage Point” yet and brought this post up. Hahaha. “Dont open the CAAHHGE!” And then on the way home, DJ said something like.. “If you dreamt about snack, it means a change is going to happen” .. maybe referring to dream interpretations. Er….. I think the word meant was “snake” though. Enunciate please.. Or everytime I dream about snacks.. sweets, chocolates, biscuits.. I *think* change would be coming! *huhu*
50mm testingness
My second JC session today (i mean yesterday) .. and asked Souljah to bring the 50mm f1.4 to try testing my hand at manual focusing..
A few pics turned out okay, but some are really blurry! Need to work on steadying my hands and not move so much when pressing the button. Here are a few pics, black and white series ala airbiscuit and some in colour too.

Finally I JC-ed
After soooo long, I finally joined the photogs at JC aka Jing Chew for breakfast. Was fun, lots of talk, and camaraderie .. checking out new equipment and also cuba try testingness. I also got a free cleaning service, lucky me! >_<
Got to test airbiscuit’s 85mm(i forget what f/stop) & the 105mm macro.. (I LOVE THAT LENS) .. and was supposed to test the 24mm also but got sidetracked.. humph.. XD Next time aye..

With the 105mm macro

With the 85mm
I think the 85mm is a bit too long for what I want. Its good for portraits but I’m not into shooting pics of people.. so I think I’m going for a 50mm prime lens instead. It might be my next lens or I’d probably go for the macro first!! Hmmm….
Miniyacht, cny, engagement
Let me first say.. Rainy days makes for a very lazy and sleepy dragon!
I had a fabulous weekend though~~~~!! Very fabu. Saturday during lunch, captured some kids doing their thing on mini yachts. They were awesome and it was obvious to me they were experts by the way they zoomed around the area! It was a cloudy day so only a few turned out well.
Later on, went to Rachy’s CNY Open House at about 8pm. As usual, we got lost. Heh heh. But after that, had a pretty good time, meeting friends, having good food and superb entertainment provided by Boss Ridhuan (hehe!). Friends came along, but two highlights of the night came in the form of my cuz, R, arriving with A. What a small world eh? Turns out she knows Rachy from UK.. And the second one was Ezn, who had his hair cut.. so short.. that I don’t think it was EVAR that short since.. ages ago!!
Today, I attended an engagement ceremony for my cousin. His intended is so lovely! I’ll let the pics do the talkin’. (My cuz is the guy in teal/turquoise?)
Anyou Heisei yo!
Last month Adikaraven, Phoenixlancer and I went to try the Korean Restaurant in Kiulap. It was their 3/4th time or so, and my very first time. WIth my current obsession with Korean dramas, I gleefully insisted on going.

In front of the restaurant was a sofa, I assume its purpose was for smokers, because queues to enter restaurants are virtually non-existent in Brunei, and a handy menu on a stand for a preview of available dishes and prices. There’s nothing more embarassing than sitting down in a new restaurant and flipping open the menu to discover you don’t have enough money in your wallet to pay for the meal ^_^;;
After quick pics, we entered the restaurant, it was a low lighting affair with the tv showing korean drama (Winter Sonata) and we chose to sit at the elevated wooden platform, which has traditional wooden flooring where you can sit on the ground. You’ll be taking a mat and sit comfortably. The table has a built in ..stove?.. for the steamboat style dining. The temperature was nice as there is a nearby airconditioner. The windows / openings towards the rest of tables were covered with wooden blinds, it added to the traditional feel.
Since it was my first time, Adikaraven and Phoenixlancer described what they tried before, and I went for one of the noodles dish (no surprises there!) and Adikaraven ordered gimbap (korean sushi), while Phoenixlancer got Bul Go Gi Dup Bap (marinated beef and rice) and a spicy seafood soup which I forgot the name of. The Dup Bap was heavenly! The beef was so tender and it tastes like soya sauce style with lots of onion (I likes!). Just a note that I’ve ordered this dish twice since then!

My second favourite would be Gimbap. Unlike Japanese sushi, the whole roll is served, even the squishy ends (which Adikaraven lurves) and it is slightly warm (for some reason I liked that). You can choose either beef, chicken, tuna or cheese. We had both beef and chicken, and they’re both finger-lickin’ good! (My brother and I just had gimbap for dinner sometime last week!)

When you order dishes, they will bring you these side dishes, which consisted of pickled vege, vegies, anchovies, fried eggs and oysters with chili-ish sauce. (Note if you only eat gimbap these won’t be served). I like all except for the pickled vege.. it was cold >_<

And lastly but not least.. the cutlery! How dare Adikaraven laughed at my sakainess with the metal chopsticks T__T; I absolutely loved the chopsticks.. I wish they sell them here. I have tried looking for them, but I guess they’re not mainstream cutlery to be sold in department stores! ^_^;; I’ve experienced eating with them at a Vietnamese restaurant in Perth (but those are heavy!) but now they’re more special. I’ve watched too many korean drama eating scenes, me thinks. Hehh hehh.
So go try the Korean Restaurant in Kiulap, located on the same side as Chong Hock dvd shop and near the music school. You’ll love it!
